The volume of goods passing through seaports has continuously grown, showing that the economy has gradually recovered.

Exports are estimated at over 150 million tons, up 14% year-on-year. Imports are estimated at nearly 200 million tons, up 21% year-on-year. The areas with the highest volume of goods passing through are all major seaports such as Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.

According to experts, recently, some seaports in the Vung Tau area have welcomed new service routes, increased service routes, and increased cargo handling capacity. Typically, SSIT Port welcomed the MSC Tokyo ship on the first direct service route to Europe of MSC shipping line in Vietnam – Britania route. The route directly connects goods from Vietnam to Northern Europe and Baltic countries through the China – Vietnam corridor, then to Liverpool before reaching the port clusters of Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg.

In addition to the gradual economic recovery, the ports’ increased cargo handling and cargo growth is also considered a result of the Cai Mep waterway being upgraded to a depth of -15.5m, creating favorable conditions for ships entering and leaving the port without having to wait for the tide, shortening navigation time.
