The construction of Ninh Giang inland waterway port will enhance connectivity and develop the logistics supply chain from Hai Duong province to Hai Phong and Quang Ninh seaports…

Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee has just approved the investment policy for the construction of Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port project in the province.
According to this decision, the project will be implemented in Hong Phuc and Kien Quoc communes, Ninh Giang district, Hai Duong province, with an area of about 27.07 hectares and a designed capacity of 3 million tons of cargo per year. The total preliminary investment capital of the project is VND1,496 billion. Vietnam National Shipping Lines is the investor of this inland port project.
Specifically, the project will be implemented within 50 years, calculated from the date of investment policy approval and investor approval. The construction process will be divided into two phases.
Phase 1: Construction of project items including hydraulic works, logistics area outside the dike, technical infrastructure area, and other items, expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
Phase 2 : Construction of project items including warehouse area, office area, technical infrastructure area, and other project items. It is expected that in the fourth quarter of 2028, the construction will be completed and the entire project will be put into operation in the dike area.
Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee requires investors to strictly comply with legal regulations related to investment, land, environment, waterway traffic, natural disaster prevention, fire prevention and fighting and to be subject to inspection and supervision by competent authorities throughout the project implementation process.
When completed and put into operation, Ninh Giang inland waterway port will play an important role in enhancing traffic, logistics and multimodal transport connectivity, serving the needs of loading, unloading, storing and distributing goods in the region. This port project will contribute to attracting investment in local industrial parks and industrial clusters, while also contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Hai Duong province.
Ninh Giang Port will create an important link between Hai Duong province and Hai Phong and Quang Ninh seaports, thereby supporting the connection of domestic goods as well as international import and export.
According to the Hai Duong Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, for national inland waterways, waterway infrastructure will be developed in accordance with the inland waterway infrastructure planning approved by the Prime Minister, including: National inland waterway routes with 2 routes: Quang Ninh – Hai Phong – Viet Tri and Quang Ninh – Ninh Binh; developing inland waterway ports: Kinh Thay – Kinh Mon – Han River port cluster with 30 ports, Thai Binh River port cluster with 4 ports and Luoc River port cluster including Ninh Giang port.
For local inland waterways, develop 6 locally managed inland waterways.
As for other inland waterway ports in the province, 17 existing inland waterway ports will be upgraded, renovated and put into management into the national inland waterway system; 12 new inland waterway ports will be developed on central rivers.
