Ensuring the source of materials for highway construction

Provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region are speeding up construction progress to achieve the goal of completing 600 km of expressway by the end of this year.

Provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta are speeding up the construction of projects to achieve the goal of completing 600 km of expressway by the end of this year. However, many projects are lacking sand for filling and no stone for construction. Faced with this difficulty, the Government, together with ministries and local branches, have drastically and synchronously implemented many solutions to promptly resolve the problem.

With a reserve of more than 2.9 million m3, this is the largest quarry in An Giang, qualified to serve highway projects . With the Government and local authorities actively removing obstacles, this quarry is about to restart after many months of waiting.

More than 200 machines and equipment of this company are ready. And this week, when the procedures are completed, the unit will speed up the exploitation to provide stone sources for highway projects in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister.

Mr. Quach Kim Long – CEO of Antraco Joint Venture Company Limited said: “Capacity from 7,000 – 9,000 m3/day. Focus on key projects, especially Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway and Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway”.

Currently, the Southern region lacks about 26 million cubic meters of sand for filling. Following the Government’s direction, localities with many sand mines are also urgently exploiting the right amount of reserves to ensure the progress of highway projects.

Mr. Ho Van Mung – Chairman of An Giang Provincial People’s Committee shared: “We have dismantled sand mining projects to supply for expressway projects outside An Giang province and resumed operations after correcting violations. For the remaining part in An Giang province, we have also determined sufficient sources to supply for this expressway.”

Lieutenant Colonel Duong Dinh Tuan – Executive Director of Package No. 1, Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway commented: “The Prime Minister’s spirit is 3 shifts, 4 shifts, overcoming the sun and rain, working during the day when there is not enough time, working at night and in the spirit of discussing work without discussing back”.

The drastic participation of the entire political system, especially the difficulties in material sources, are gradually being resolved. The goal of having 600 km of expressway for the Mekong Delta by the end of this year is completely feasible.
