According to Deel’s report, the recruitment rate of Vietnamese personnel in the international market will increase by 111% in 2024.
Deel, a global human resources and payroll management platform, has just released its latest recruitment report analyzing employment trends globally, including Vietnam. The report shows a sharp increase in international recruitment by domestic and foreign companies, affirming Vietnam’s increasingly important position in the global labor market.
In 2024, the number of Vietnamese intellectual workers recruited in foreign markets increased by 111%, especially in the technology sector. This reflects the increasing competitiveness of Vietnamese workers in the international job market in many industries and fields.
The US, UK and Singapore – markets facing a shortage of tech talent – are the top countries seeking talent in Vietnam in 2024. Notably, recruitment demand from Singapore is increasing, reflecting the increasingly strong economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries, especially after the recent visit to Vietnam by Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
Vietnam’s recruitment trends by industry have seen some notable changes from 2023 to 2024. Software Engineers are still the most sought-after positions by international employers, but roles such as Quality Assurance (QA) and Game Programming are increasingly being prioritized, replacing positions such as Interpreters and Statisticians in 2023. In addition, many Vietnamese businesses are also stepping up their international talent recruitment strategies, focusing on positions such as Software Engineers, Graphic Designers and Antifraud Analysts.
“Vietnam is becoming one of the fastest growing economies in the region, with a highly skilled workforce that is increasingly recognized by international businesses,” said Karen Ng, Country Director and Head of Market Development for Asia at Deel. “The recruitment trends in this year’s report not only reflect Vietnam’s strong market potential but also affirm the important contributions of Vietnamese talent to the development of the technology, gaming and financial industries globally. We see an increasing demand for Vietnamese talent from international businesses, while domestic companies are also actively expanding their global recruitment scope. These trends show that Vietnam is gradually asserting its important role in the international labor market.”
Data from Deel’s report reflects not only the recruitment trends in Vietnam but also many other trends globally. While software engineers remain the most sought-after profession, the demand for accountants is also increasing sharply. Over the past year, the global recruitment rate for accountants has increased by 74%, while salaries have also increased by 15%, making this industry one of the fastest growing professions. Tightening tax regulations for international workers, combined with a decline in young people pursuing this industry, have contributed to making accounting one of the fields with the highest demand for human resources globally.
In addition, Gen Z is also becoming a priority recruitment group for global businesses. In 2024, Gen Z will record the fastest salary increase (9%) compared to other generations and have the lowest rate of involuntary termination (36%). Their superior technological skills and eagerness to learn have made them a valuable resource for businesses around the world.
“Growing up in the digital age, Gen Z is not only tech-savvy, but also prioritizes meaning over pay, and wants a personalized career path and opportunities for professional development. To attract and retain this group of employees, businesses need to create a flexible working environment, while investing in training and career progression,” said Alice Burks, Director of People Development at Deel.
