From today, tax authorities directly manage foreign suppliers.

From May 19, the tax authority directly managing foreign suppliers will be adjusted from the Large Enterprise Tax Department to the E-commerce Tax Department.

From today, the tax authority directly managing foreign suppliers such as Youtube, Google, Tiktok, Meta… will be transferred from the Large Enterprise Tax Department to the E-commerce Tax Department.

To serve the task of handing over tax management to foreign suppliers, the Electronic Information Portal for Foreign Suppliers will be temporarily suspended from 6:00 p.m. on May 16 to 0:00 a.m. on May 18 for system upgrade and conversion. The change of the tax authority managing foreign suppliers is expected to increase the specialization of tax management for specific groups of subjects.

The Ministry of Finance decided to establish the E-commerce Tax Department at the end of February this year, with the aim of better managing the growing e-commerce tax sector. Last year, Vietnam’s e-commerce revenue reached VND318,000 billion, with foreign suppliers alone paying more than VND8,600 billion.

According to the Tax Department, in the first 4 months of 2025, tax revenue from organizations and individuals with e-commerce business activities reached 42,600 billion VND, an increase of 10.4% over the same period in 2024. Also by the end of April 2025, 153 foreign suppliers had registered, declared, and paid taxes via the Electronic Information Portal for Foreign Suppliers, with tax payments reaching 3,700 billion VND.
