Proactively adapt to “overcome barriers” in green exports to the EU

Green export is not only a goal, but also a driving force to create a modern, sustainable economy.

With positive signals from agricultural, forestry and fishery exports, as of mid-November, Vietnam’s export turnover had reached 352.38 billion USD, up 14.8% over the same period last year. The United States, Europe and Japan remain the main markets importing goods from Vietnam.

In the context that these markets are having many new regulations related to sustainable export, Vietnamese enterprises are ready to adapt to these changes. This information was given at the Green Export Promotion Forum organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the morning of December 4.

Sharing at the forum, some wood exporting enterprises said that they have now met the standards on traceability to Europe (EUTR) and the Lacey Act of the United States.

The representative of the European Business Association in Vietnam said that European businesses not only require the EUDR mechanism and the CBAM cross-border carbon adjustment mechanism, they also have new regulations on supply chain inspection.

Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad said they will continuously update sustainable export regulations of each market on their official websites to support businesses.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that exporting enterprises need to provide full transparency on the origin of each product component and update market signals for each item to choose suitable export areas.
