Digital transformation promotes work at BSR to be more and more efficient

For many years, BSR has carried out digital transformation at the unit, contributing to achieving outstanding results in all aspects of work, making a great contribution to production and business results.

Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) said that digital transformation has applied information technology to work, supported innovation in thinking, changed the way of working and will continue to be focused on implementation and development by the unit in the coming time.

Digital transformation will create sustainable sources of revenue and profit.

In the oil and gas industry, digitalization is considered to improve business efficiency. Thereby, it will reduce costs, reduce carbon emissions; improve operational efficiency and increase profits and revenue for businesses in the industry.

BSR (the unit managing and operating Dung Quat Oil Refinery) also identified digital transformation as a vital lever to increase operational efficiency, transform operating and business methods, and create sustainable sources of revenue and profit for the unit in all aspects. However, although digital transformation opens up opportunities, it also poses many challenges for BSR.

The Party Committee and the Board of Directors of BSR always pay special attention to digital transformation, considering it a core task of the company. Accordingly, BSR has issued guidelines for implementing digital transformation, applicable to all investment, development, management and exploitation activities of the unit to the professional board and all employees. Here, digital transformation is formed according to 6 pillars: Customers, Strategy, Technology, Operations, Culture, Data, to bring practical benefits and efficiency to businesses and customers.

Mr. Dang Minh Tuan, Deputy Head of BSR Information Technology Department, commented: BSR’s challenge in digital transformation is the large investment cost for this work in technology, processes and employee training. Not to mention, the ability of employees to adapt to changes in working habits, or information security, data security and prevention of threats and attacks from outside…

“Thanks to digital transformation, BSR has overcome many difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time, everyone had to work remotely and ‘3 on-site’. Procurement, bidding, and bid submission have all been completely online, helping BSR operate stably and production and business activities continue normally,” said Mr. Tuan, adding that digital transformation at BSR is a comprehensive change in working methods and production methods based on digital technology.

High consensus has helped complete BSR’s digital transformation targets and tasks.

Digital transformation is the lever to improve production and business activities

Since September 2021, BSR has officially deployed the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Up to now, the unit has completed satellite systems to provide a digital platform for the entire supply/procurement chain on the system: From budget, order creation, procurement implementation, payment, accounting and smart reporting… Maximizing the exploitation of the ERP system and satellite systems such as: Putting into operation the D-procure procurement management system, payment management (from invoices, payment requests, payment authorizations, successfully tested payment integration with banks); signed partners and integrated synchronously with ERP to form a digital platform for the entire chain.

BSR has completed and put into operation synchronous systems for establishing, monitoring, and evaluating the plant’s production efficiency plan through a set of solutions for crude oil assessment, monthly planning, weekly and daily production planning integrated with a material balance calculation system. Orienting to change focus, promoting digitalization/digital transformation in asset management/production optimization from passive management to proactive monitoring, evaluation, forecasting, enhancing the application of Big Data analysis, artificial intelligence/machine learning AI/ML in optimization, forecasting, predictive maintenance… helps BSR get closer to the goal of “smart factory”.
