Two social housing projects include: Truong Thanh Ward Housing Area (Thu Duc City) with an area of ​​over 9,800 m2, with 300 apartments, total investment of nearly 870 billion VND. 38-hectare resettlement area in Tan Thoi Nhat Ward, District 12, with an area of ​​over 11,800 m2, with 540 apartments, total investment of over 600 billion VND.

The 5 land plots planned for investment in social housing construction are located in District 4 and Thu Duc City, with an expected construction of more than 5,600 apartments. The City People’s Committee requested departments, branches and localities to review procedures, shorten implementation time, and strive to prepare the project within 6 months, with construction starting and completion within one year.

Ho Chi Minh City’s housing development program for the 2021-2030 period, the city aims to invest in building 69,700-93,000 social housing units by 2030. However, to date, the city has only implemented 10 projects, of which 6 have been completed and 4 are under construction, with nearly 6,000 apartments. This is a modest result, very challenging to achieve the targets in the coming time. Regarding investment incentives, according to Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, when businesses participate in investing in social housing projects, the city will shorten investment procedures. Representatives of the Ministry of Construction, the State Bank Branch in Ho Chi Minh City, and the City’s departments and branches also introduced mechanisms and incentive policies for social housing; construction investment procedures, bidding process for selecting investors in social housing projects and financial support policies for businesses and people…
