Many transport projects speed up before rainy season

If the Central region expressway project sections are completed as committed, they will be about 6 months ahead of schedule according to the contract.

This year, the weather has been quite unusual, especially heavy rain, which has significantly affected the progress of many key transport projects. However, many sections of the North-South Expressway project through the Central region are still on track to finish ahead of schedule. Many construction sites are accelerating to complete the route by the end of this year.

The rains have just stopped, the road surface has dried. Construction teams of the Bai Vot – Ham Nghi project have simultaneously gone to the site to speed up. Many units have extended working hours when the weather is favorable.

Mr. Le Van Thuyet – Construction Commander, Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Corporation said: “The contractor will start construction from 5am, finish at 10pm, continuously, through noon”.

Most of the project sections of the North-South Expressway project in the Central region have completed the roadbed.

Up to now, most of the project sections of the North-South Expressway project in the Central region have completed the roadbed. This is the decisive factor to bring the project to the finish line as planned before the rainy season begins.

In just about a month, the Central region will officially enter the rainy season. This is the time when construction units are forced to speed up. Many construction teams have adjusted their progress to suit weather fluctuations in order to complete expressway projects in the Central region before April 30, 2025.

If the Central Expressway project sections are completed as committed, they will be about 6 months ahead of schedule according to the contract. As the rainy season is about to officially begin, the units are ready to prepare an adaptive construction plan.

Mr. Hoang Chien Thang – Director of the Bai Vot – Ham Nghi Expressway Project Management Board commented: “We have completed 96% of the foundation on the route. Currently, the CTB layer and crushed stone layer remain. During the day, if the weather is favorable, we will start construction immediately.”

Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung – Director of the Ham Nghi – Vung Ang Expressway Project Management Board shared: “We have also prepared the construction site for work that can be done during the rainy season such as road foundation, CTB layers, bridge railings and embankment reinforcement”.

This year has had a lot of rain and is not a favorable time for transport projects to accelerate progress. However, the representative of the Ministry of Transport also set a target of disbursing at least 98% of the total of nearly 76,000 billion VND assigned by the Prime Minister. This figure accounts for more than 10% of the country’s total public investment.
