High competition in the international market leads to not only large-value products such as wooden furniture, shrimp, and steel, but also small-volume Vietnamese export products that are easily subject to trade defense investigations by other countries .

High competition in the international economy has led not only the US and EU but also markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia to actively use trade defense tools against Vietnamese goods.

Mr. Chu Thang Trung – Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Defense, Ministry of Industry and Trade said: “We also continuously monitor more than 300 items and have issued official warnings for more than 30 items. The latest warning list includes both emerging markets and markets with which we have just signed free trade agreements.”
With the experience of successfully appealing lawsuits against plywood and kitchen cabinets, the wood industry recommends that businesses proactively raise awareness of law compliance, build a strict internal control system, increase accountability, and actively cooperate with investigative agencies. These are essential to prove that production and export stages are transparent and legal.
The Customs Department is also strengthening the review of imported products with high and sudden growth in turnover to prevent goods from third countries from taking advantage of Vietnamese origin to export to other countries, thereby protecting the reputation of Vietnamese products and goods in the international market.
