Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 and the 5th Anniversary of the National Innovation Center (NIC) on October 1 attracted the presence of many leaders of the world’s leading technology corporations, such as Meta Group President in charge of global affairs Nick Clegg, Nvidia Corporation Global Senior Vice President Raymond Teh, Qualcomm Corporation Vice President in charge of global government relations Becky Fraser and senior executives from AMD, Intel, Qorvo, Samsung…

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nick Clegg, President of Global Public Affairs, Meta Group, said that Meta is honored to cooperate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to promote Vietnam’s AI development future and build an innovation ecosystem.

“As Vietnam’s AI development potential grows stronger, Meta is committed to supporting Vietnam’s long-term vision of making AI a key pillar of the digital economy. Through cooperation with the Vietnamese Government, we expect new opportunities to continue to open up from Vietnam in the future,” Mr. Nick Clegg emphasized.

Regarding Meta’s cooperation and investment plans in Vietnam in the coming time, Mr. Nick Clegg said that Meta will expand the production of Meta’s latest mixed virtual reality device – Quest 3S in Vietnam in 2025. This is expected to create about 1,000 jobs in Vietnam, and also shows Meta’s trust in Vietnam’s human resources.

“We will deploy MetaAI, an AI assistant in Vietnam in Vietnamese, completely free for users. We will also deploy AI tools for businesses so they can use them on our platforms to develop their businesses better,” Mr. Clegg added.

The event attracted the attention of many foreign partners.

According to Mr. Clegg, AI is not a specific object, but an environment to be able to use and change the way it is used, for example in health care, as well as improving productivity for workers, for agriculture, or applying AI in education and training.

“Therefore, by collaborating with Meta and Vietnam National University, Hanoi in building training and capacity building programs, AI is the way to help us make the best use of the AI ​​application model in education and business,” he affirmed.

Previously, in the meeting with the Prime Minister, Meta leaders committed to continue supporting and expanding investment programs, encouraging innovation, and supporting growth for small and medium enterprises in Vietnam in the coming time; at the same time, they made a number of proposals related to specific planning for frequency bands, and recommendations on the legal framework to create more favorable conditions for the business environment.

Also at the event, Mr. Raymond Teh, Senior Vice President of Global Nvidia said that AI is advancing society and the economy by helping researchers and businesses solve the world’s biggest challenges in healthcare, climate, manufacturing and more.

“In partnership with Vietnam’s National Innovation Center and local technology ecosystem, Nvidia will help accelerate innovation in the country’s industries,” he affirmed.

Mr. Raymond Teh, Senior Vice President of Global at Nvidia, said the group wants to cooperate with Vietnamese businesses to promote AI accessibility.

Nvidia Vice President said that in the coming time, the company wants to cooperate with Vietnam to promote the country’s AI development aspirations by supporting startups, individuals, and students in Vietnam to access AI through providing cloud platforms, GPUs…; providing in-depth programs to support Vietnamese students to access AI knowledge in the fastest way; and Nvidia will cooperate with software and IT companies… to help them understand how to apply AI in different fields.

Presenting to the Prime Minister at the event, Mr. Yap Kwong Wen, CEO of SuperPort Vietnam, also wished to “open a new era of the logistics industry, making Vietnam a strategic link in the global supply chain” through enhancing competitiveness and improving the logistics performance index (LPI) thanks to the application of AI in port management solutions. According to SuperPort Vietnam’s calculations, the application of technology can optimize cargo storage space up to 7 times and reduce 95% of cargo transportation time in the warehouse.

Or by using Drones to replace humans and a fixed camera system to control goods, it will help shorten the time, taking only 12 minutes to complete the count (while previously it would take 2 people and up to 1 day to count the goods of a large warehouse area).

Mr. Yap Kwong Wen, CEO of SuperPort Vietnam, a project jointly developed by T&T Group and YCH (Singapore) with a digital transformation roadmap, applying technological advances in the port and logistics sector.

“We are not stopping at existing solutions but are continuing to cooperate with world-leading technology partners to develop new technologies such as advanced warehouse robots, ESG management platforms to reduce carbon and integrated logistics markets to reduce Vietnam’s logistics costs to the same level as other countries in the region,” affirmed Mr. Yap Kwong Wen.

In addition to the participation of global technology giants, the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 and the 5th Anniversary of the National Innovation Center also have the participation of corporations and enterprises such as: Petrolimex, Viettel, Sovico Group, T&T Group, Thaco, Visa, MoMo, CT Group… Enterprises consider the event a valuable opportunity for domestic and foreign enterprises to update the latest information on technology, thereby connecting and exploring cooperation opportunities in the future.
