On October 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) launched a peak competition “50 days and nights to complete the task of putting urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) into official operation in 2024”.
Under the direction of the Government, the City Party Committee, the People’s Council, and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, this project must complete procedures to be officially put into operation in 2024.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Cong Bang – Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board said that from now until December 20, MAUR and Urban Railway Company No. 1 must carry out a very large and complicated amount of work, handle long-standing backlog issues; and must closely coordinate with central agencies and city departments and branches.
According to Mr. Bang, this is also a great source of pride, demonstrating the trust of the Government and City leaders in the collective of civil servants and employees of the Urban Railway Management Board and Urban Railway Company No. 1.
In particular, determining the completion of all remaining tasks to complete, proactively identifying tasks according to functions and authority, focusing on solving them with the spirit of working day and night, through holidays, striving to complete the task of putting urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) into operation on December 22, 2024./.

The Project to Build Urban Railway Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) has a length of 19.4km, using ODA capital from Japan and counterpart capital from the budget. This is the first urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City. After the project was approved, the Urban Railway Management Board (project investor) closely coordinated with foreign agencies, central ministries, and city departments to carry out procedures to implement the project. After the implementation process, up to this point, the project has basically completed construction, equipment installation on site, and conducted training for train drivers and operators. |
